Albany is a thriving city in southwest Georgia with a population of about 70 thousand. This community is one that would be considered "churchy". The people here still reverence and respect the House of God and Sunday mornings! While there are many churches in Albany, Christ Community Church was formed to reach a remnant of people who may not be connected. We don't subscribe to the spirit of comparison nor competition. We believe we are called to this community "for such a time as this".
The inaugural worship service for C3 was held on Easter Sunday 2026 in the Rutha Mae Harris Performing Arts Theater at Monroe Comprehensive High School. With this as our temporary home, our placement here was strategically God-ordered. We believe there is a need on the Southside, and we are firmly committed to serving this community and beyond!
Our Pastor, Dr. O. Jermaine Simmons, was directed by God to plant and establish a ministry that would serve as a "Bridge" between Christ and the community, between the sinner and the Savior. While we have no official denominational affiliation, we are committed to the Holy Bible's teaching. We are open to every generation and demographic. As a new church plant, our identity is still evolving. Who we are and who we become depends on the people who choose to join us. Our history is still being written. We stand in prayerful anticipation of what the Lord will do through C3!
We are called to be a "bridge" across generations and to meet the tangible needs of our community, taking the Matthew 25 mandate literally! In the near future, C3 will have ministries that feed the hungry and clothe the naked. We will create opportunities for the next generation to receive mentorship and advocacy. Our long-term goal is to build a facility that cares for our unhoused population here in Albany. In addition to this, our ministry plans to reach to the addicted persons in our community as well as those who struggle with mental health challenges.
